Ukraine. Grain river transportation increased significantly
In the first quarter of 2019, grain shipments along the Dnieper river reached 389 KMT. This is 600% more than over the same period in 2018. That was partly conditioned by the fact that this year river navigation has been announced 2 weeks earlier, reports UkrAgroConsult.
As a reminder, in 2018, grain transportation along the Dnieper river increased to 3.15 MMT, or 15.3% more than in 2017. The development of river transport goes on despite the absence of modern legislative framework. The law “On Inland Water Transport” in the Verkhovna Rada has not been adopted. This remains the main constraining factor for the growth of river transportation sector.
