Ukraine. Planting of spring crops still behind last year
Grains. Planting of grains and pulses in Ukraine was 80% complete as of May 13, 2019. This is 9% less than as of May 14, 2018 and 7% below the five-year average.
Corn planting is still 10% behind 2018, reports UkrAgroConsult.
For now, this year’s progress in planting buckwheat is the slowest among all crops, being 84% behind last year.

Oilcrops. According to Ukraine’s Ag Ministry, 4401.7 Th ha of sunflower had been sown by May 13, 2019, or 77% of the projected 5714.1 Th ha (official data). Its planting is 13.6% behind last year: 5035 Th ha had been planted to sunflower by May 13, 2018.
As of the reporting date, soybean planting was also behind 2018 (-38.2%). So, 810 Th ha had been planted to this crop by May 13 (44% of the forecast 1821.9 Th ha) against 1310 Th ha a year earlier.
