Belarus. 50-cm soil layer too dry in most of the country
Exceptionally dry weather in April substantially reduced soil moisture supply. In most areas, productive moisture content in the topsoil reduced to fair levels, being locally low in some fields. Productive moisture content in the 50-cm soil layer, mostly in the southern half of the country, also decreased to fair levels, reports UkrAgroConsult.
The soil in winter rape crops is short of moisture, while spring crops in some fields in the south and west of the country have insufficient topsoil moisture supply. Brief rains in early May just locally moistened the topsoil. In most of Belarus, the topsoil is still rather dry, even fully dry in some areas.
