Ukraine. Linseed exports at a five-year low
In the 2018/19 season, linseed exports from Ukraine fell to a five-year low of 6.6 KMT against 18.4 KMT a year earlier. The current marketing year features more even monthly shipments, which vary from 0.9 KMT to 1.4 KMT. As a reminder, linseed exports declined because of a 32.3% drop in its crop, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Traditionally, this season’s linseed exports went mostly to the EU (50%), although its shipments plummeted by 42%. Some slowdown was seen in supplies to Bangladesh, which bought 0.8 KMT against 1.1 KMT a year earlier (12%).
In addition, Vietnam and Egypt – last season’s top importers – gave ground to Algeria and Taiwan. The latter countries absorb 6% and 5% of Ukrainian linseed exports, respectively.
