Expert estimated new grain crop in Ukraine
The total grain production in Ukraine, provided the existing trends in yields, is expected to reach 66.5 million tons. This forecast was made by Liza Malyshko, grain market expert at UkrAgroConsult, in the framework of the Black Sea Grain-2019 conference.
The current grain balance is as follows:
- record wheat harvest;
- barley harvest is the highest over the past 3 years;
- corn harvest is close to record or the second record;
- the total production supported by yield trends is expected to reach 66.5 million tons with 47.7 million tons of exports.
UkrAgroConsult projects that the total area of grain crops will exceed the previous year's. In addition, the conditions of early spring crops also provide a basis for good yields.
As of April 23rd, early spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine are sown on an area of 2.1 million hectares, or 93 pct of the projected areas.
