Farmers in Romania started planting sunflower and corn
Elevated air temperatures persisted in Romania this past week. The average air temperature in all growing regions was 4..6°С above normal. The average daily air temperature varied within +8..+16°С.
Precipitation in the form of rain occurred mostly in the northern, central and southern regions (10-15 mm during the week). Soil drought continues affecting increasingly vast expanses in the east and southeast of the country.
Winter wheat is in the stages of tillering and stem elongation, while winter rape is at the beginning of stem elongation. Sunflower and corn planting has begun in southern Romania. Some farmers started sowing sunflower a month earlier than last year, reports UkrAgroConsult.
