Romania. Precipitation made up for soil moisture deficit in most growing regions

It became cooler in Romania this past week. The average daytime air temperature varied within +10..+22°С (4..2°С below normal).

Heavy precipitation occurred everywhere (25-35 mm during the week), reducing soil moisture deficit. Rainfall has substantially replenished moisture supply over the recent few weeks, promoting growth of winter and spring crops.  Soil moisture deficit in the 20-cm layer is observed locally in small areas in the south and southeast of the country.

Winter wheat and barley are at the stages of stem elongation to heading. Blooming to pod formation are observed in winter rape. Corn plants are at the stages of emergence to 3rd leaf, while sunflower plants are forming the leaf apparatus (4-10 leaves), reports UkrAgroConsult.
