Russia. Weather conditions favored further planting of early spring crops

On April 11-20, air temperatures in the North-Western, Central and Volga federal districts were close to their long-term average values. Warm weather accelerated soil drying and warming. A cold-spell occurred on April 14-16, when the ground in some areas even got covered with snow for a while, and soil warming slowed. Then air temperatures went up again. Plant condition is mostly good and fair, with adequate moisture supply, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Snow cover is still seen in the fields in Arkhangelsk, Komi regions, in the east of Vologda region, in the north of Kirov, Perm regions and the Republic of Udmurtia, and in northeasternmost parts of Kostroma region. Its height varied from 2-5 cm to 40 cm and higher. In single northern fields covered with a lot of snow, winter cereal crops still faced the risk of damage by rotting.

It was warm in the Southern and North-Caucasian federal districts on April 11-13, when daytime air temperature reached 15…22°C, with 5…10°C at night. The weather conditions were mainly favorable for growth and development of winter crops. Recent precipitation increased soil moisture supply mostly to sufficient levels.
