On July 1, 2018 – May 5, 2019, the European Union imported 12.5 MMT of soybeans that a higher compared to a year ago (11.4 MMT). Soybean meal imports dropped to 14.5 MMT from 15.9 MMT and those of soybean oil decreased to 1.4 MMT against 1.5 MMT. For the most part, the soybeans were supplied from the U.S. and the soybean meal came from Brazil and Argentina, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Sunflower seed imports fell to 0.4 MMT (0.4 MMT a year earlier). Sunflower meal imports slid to 2.7 MMT against 3.2 MMT with those of sunflower oil down at 1.4 MMT against 1.5 MMT in the same period last season. The top supplier of sunflower meal and oil to the European Union is Ukraine.
The volume of palm oil imports remains as high as last season, at 5.4 MMT.
