Grain acreage in Kazakhstan to total 14.9 Ml ha
According to the Ag Ministry of Kazakhstan, it is projected to plant 14.9 Ml ha to grain crops in 2019. The wheat area will shrink by 168 Th ha, to the 2017 level of 11.2 Ml ha, reports UkrAgroConsult.
At the same time, to meet growing needs of the livestock sector, farmers will increase plantings of feed crops by 654 Th ha (up 19% from 2018) and feed grains (barley, oats, corn, peas, chickpeas) by 42 Th ha, to more than 3.0 Ml ha.
According to preliminary information, 2019 plantings in Kazakhstan will total 22.3 Ml ha, or 291 Th ha (1.3%) more than last year.
