Kazakhstan. Weather conditions slowed tillage and planting of winter wheat

Weather conditions. Falling air temperatures and ground-surface frosts down to 3-8°С below zero at night in the second decade of October were observed in most of the country (down to 12-17°C below zero locally in the north).

Nighttime air temperature drops to 4˚C below zero and abundant above-normal precipitation occurred across winter wheat growing areas in the south and southeast. Such meteorological conditions somewhat slowed tillage and planting of winter wheat in the southern regions, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Condition of winter crops in the second decade of October is good and excellent. Farmers in Almaty region continue harvesting corn for silage, sugar beet and soybeans, while sunflower harvest is still in progress in East Kazakhstan and Kostanay regions.
