Russia’s confectionary sector strengthening demand for palm oil

Palm oil imports to Russia may rise due to increasing global demand for Russian confectionary products, reports UkrAgroConsult on the basis of information from the Fat-and-Oil Union of Russia.

Palm oil imports in January-September 2019 were up 5.3% year-on-year, at a total of 757.4 KMT.

The confectionary sector is the main consumer of palm oil, whereas Russian sweets exports have been growing for a fourth consecutive year. Their shipments to foreign markets in January-October 2019 were up 14.2% year-on-year, at USD 930 Ml. This year, Russia may step up sweets exports by 19%, to 621 KMT.
