Soybean purchases by Turkey to hit a high in the new season

Turkey imported 1.5 MMT of soybeans in eight months of the marketing year to meet strong demand from its poultry sector, reports UkrAgroConsult.

The biggest suppliers included Ukraine (680.5 KMT) and Brazil (675.5 KMT). Turkey is a net importer of soybeans. Own production approximates 100 KMT.

According to the USDA forecast, a total 2.6 MMT of soybeans will be imported this season (down 6% from MY 2017/18). Their 2019/20 imports are expected to hit a record 2.8 MMT.
