Ukraine. Individuals will own not more than 100 ha — President Zelenskyy

At a meeting with the deputy faction Sluga Narodu, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to support the draft law on the turnover of agricultural land on condition that the sale of state-owned land is excluded and land ownership per person is reduced.

As reported, at the first stage of land market liberalization, the legislation will provide for the possibility for individuals to own not more than 100 ha.

"We have reduced the concentration for individuals to 100 ha. For legal entities, this is the second stage, which will be introduced in 2024, there will be up to 10 thou. ha. Hence, the first stage — for individuals, for Ukrainians — 100 ha per person," Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

The President stressed that the adoption of laws on the land market and banks is necessary for receiving a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Previously reported that the Cabinet of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Parliament) were expecting confirmation from the IMF that another tranche of USD 5.5 bln would be allocated to support land reform implementation by the Parliament.
