Ukraine. Sunflower meal exports hit a season-high
In March 2018/19, sunflower meal exports from Ukraine totaled 454 KMT. This is down 12.6% from the previous month, but up almost 27% from March 2017/18. Overall, September-March exports this season set a new record of 2925.2 KMT, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Despite a 17% drop in purchases, the EU remains the top importer of Ukrainian sunflower meal this season with an export share of 44%.
China, which first imported Ukrainian sunflower meal in December 2018, already purchased 634.3 KMT in MY 2018/19 and thereby became the second biggest importer (a 22% export share), but its demand temporarily weakened in March.
Belarus reduced imports by almost 19%, whereas Turkey and Morocco restored purchases to last year’s levels and regained their positions in the ranking of importers.
