In view of the crop decrease, grain exports, for the first time in five years, dropped by 9.6% in MY 2017/18 compared to the previous season, UkrAgroConsult’s analysts note.
In particular, wheat exports, which had been on a steady rise for six years before, fell by 2% from last year’s record.
The list of the largest wheat importing countries remained the same as in the previous season. However, their shares changed substantially.
The geography of barley exports has not actually changed for many years: the lion’s share is purchased by Saudi Arabia. Purchases for the whole season remained at last year’s level.
Due to competition from Brazil and Argentina, Ukraine failed to fully realize corn export potential in the current season.
