Ukraine on the verge of a new agriproducts export record — Trofimtseva

In January-June 2019, exports of agricultural products from Ukraine reached USD 10.3 billion, USD 1.6 billion or 18.6% more from the corresponding period in 2018. This was informed by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olga Trofimtseva.

The agricultural sector's foreign trade turnover reached USD 13.1 billion or 25.1% of the total foreign trade turnover of Ukraine.

"Ukraine continues increasing exports of agricultural products. The latest export figures of USD 10.3 billion for the first six months of the year give us every reason to hope for a new export record in 2019. The following export volumes of crops were the key factor of such high results achieved, grains — 44.2%, vegetable oil — 22.9% and oilseeds — 6%," said Olga Trofimtseva.

According to her, crop exports from Ukraine increased by USD 1.5 billion (19.3%) to USD 9.5 billion. The volume of livestock products supply grew by USD 73.2 million (10.9%) and amounted to USD 742.5 million.

As reported, there has been an increase in the export of corn by 66.3%, cake and other solid waste from sunflower oil production — by 19.7%, cake and other solid waste of soybean oil production — boosted 2x; poultry meat and by-products — by 27.5%; soybean oil — by 55.3%; juice — by 96.1%; poultry eggs — by 35.8%; condensed milk — by 61.2%; sunflower seeds — scaled up 2.7x; honey — by 25%; live cattle — by 45%; salt — by 45%; fresh beef — by 31.9%.

"In terms of the regional structure of Ukrainian agricultural exports, Asian countries dominate with a share of 41.9%, the second position is held by European Union countries — 33%, and the third position is occupied by African countries — 15.4%. China (9%), Egypt (8.2%), India (7.9%), Turkey (7.7%) and the Netherlands (7.1%) are Ukraine's key markets," summed up Olga Trofimtseva.

As previously reported, by the results of the 2018/19 season Kernel is the key exporter of grain from Ukraine with 6.72 million tons of supplies.
