Warm weather between October and November 10 promoted slow fall growth, even active one in the south and west. In general, the conditions were good and fair for establishment and development of winter crops. Sunny weather with low night air temperatures was favorable for plant hardening.
As reported before, moisture supply in the south was largely tight, since most parts of Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson regions have received almost no effective precipitation over the past 25-35 days. Therefore, fogs and abundant dew were extraordinarily useful, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Ukraine has been exposed to unstable weather since November 11. Air temperature plummeted on November 13-14. Light precipitation in the form of rain and snow occurred almost all over the country.
Ukrainian winter crops were generally in better condition than in November 2017, but with somewhat lower moisture content in the topsoil. This past week, winter crops stopped growing all over the country, except for its southernmost areas.
The situation in winter rape crops has not changed substantially from last week. Their fall growing season was ending. Rape plants are mainly in good condition.
