Ukrainian farmers already harvest grain and leguminous crops from 70% of area

Ukrainian farmers have already harvested grain and leguminous crops from an area of 10.8 million hectares, or 70% of the projected area, the press service of the Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reports.

"As of September 23, Ukrainian farmers harvested grain and leguminous crops from an area of 10.8 million hectares, or 70% of the projected area, and threshed 43.3 million tonnes of grains with an average yield of 40.3 centner/ha," the report reads.

In particular, Ukrainian farmers harvested 3.6 million tonnes of corn from 600 thousand hectares (12%); 68 thousand tonnes of buckwheat from 51 thousand hectares (76%); 133 thousand tonnes of millet from 71 thousand hectares (79%).

In addition, a total of 8.3 million tonnes of sunflowers were threshed from 3.7 million hectares (63% of the projected area) with an average yield of 22.6 centner/ha; 1.7 million tonnes of soybeans – from 742 thousand hectares (47%) with an average yield of 23.0 centner/ha; 990 thousand tonnes of sugar beet – from 22 thousand hectares (10%) with an average yield of 450 centner/ha.

The largest amount of grain was threshed in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions (3.2 million tonnes each), Dnipropetrovsk region (3.0 million tonnes), and Mykolaiv region (2.8 million tonnes).
