Weather factor limits export potential of Romanian wheat
Precipitation deficit in the North-East and South-East of Romania decreases the crop prospects of winter wheat. In the last 60 days precipitations equaled 40-80% of the multiyear norms here.
Lack of rains is aggravated by the increased temperature regime. In the reporting period average daily temperature was 2-3С° higher than norms.
UkrAgroConsult lowered its forecast of Romanian wheat yield in 2020/21.
Crop forecast was decreased slightly, but exceeds the 5-year average (8.7 MMT), thanks to the record wheat planted area in the last ten years. Precipitations in May will be closely monitored and may improve the crop condition.
Export estimate in 2020/21 MY will be in line with the estimations in the current season.
