China almost doubled Ukrainian sunflower meal purchases

Sunflower meal exports in MY 2019/20 reached a record 5240.5 KMT (up 9.5% on the year), UkrAgroConsult reports.

Due to active exports throughout the season, stocks dwindled and August exports were down at 172 KMT vs. the 2019/20 monthly average of 460 KMT.

China almost doubled sunflower meal purchases from Ukraine and became the top importer with a market share of some 40%.

At the same time sunflower meal dropped to both the EU and Belarus.

India offset the decline in Ukrainian exports to the above major destination markets by doubling its purchases.

Growth in exports was registered to Turkey (+30%), Malaysia (+17%), Morocco (+14%).

A slowdown was observed in exports to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
