Kazakhstan’s bright hopes to achieve 100-percent crush of oilseeds
Kazakhstan’s Agriculture Minister Saparkhan Omarov told about plans for developing the oilseed-crushing sector in the country.
The 2019 acreage of oilseeds equals 2.9 Ml ha against 400 Th ha in 2004, with a corresponding increase in production. Now the main goal consists in further expansion of the planted area of oilseeds because of their higher margin compared to wheat, reports UkrAgroConsult.
There are problems related to processing: as of today, roughly 40% of the total crop is exported as raw materials. In order to achieve a 100% rate of domestic processing, the Agriculture Ministry has designed a processing chart including oilseeds. The announced deadline for achieving this result is 2-3 years.
