According to the Economy Ministry’s final planting progress report released on June 11, Ukrainian farmers had sown 100% of the intended area, or 282.7 Th ha (+12% year-on-year), UkrAgroConsult reports.
Similar to last year, the top pea growing regions include Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Odesa. Remarkably, pea acreage in Odesa region was expanded by 58% – most likely, due to the necessity to replace lost winter grains.
Crop condition is good: as of June 26, pea plants were in the stage of grain filling and full ripeness in the the south.
According to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, Ukraine may increase its footprint in the European pulse market in MY 2020/21 because crop condition in France is worse than last year.
