Romania. Severe drought is observed in almost all the country’s growing regions

Weather conditions. This past week, air temperatures in Romania were at +7..+18°C, or above long-term normals (6..9°C above long-term normals in the south; 2..4°C above those in the north).

Moisture supply. No heavy precipitation was seen in the country this past week (at most 5-10 mm) – just some localities in the south and north received about 25 mm. Increased air temperatures cause rapid evaporation of soil moisture reserves. Severe drought is observed in almost all of the country’s growing regions that reduces yield potential of winter and spring crops, UkrAgroConsult reports.

In the daytime, the 0-5 cm soil layer warmed up to +10..+15°C that promoted a faster pace of spring planting.
