Russia. Above-normal air temperature contributed to active growth of winter crops
Unusually warm weather was observed in the Central, North-Western and Volga federal districts on April 1-10, when air temperature was at 2…4°С in most areas. Precipitation rates totaled less than 10 mm. Winter crops are mostly in good condition. The topsoil (10-cm depth) warmed up to +7…10°С, making it possible to sow early spring grains and sunflower.
In the Southern and North Caucasian federal districts, the beginning of the month was cool, featuring air and ground frosts. The average air temperature on April 1-10 was mainly at 7…9°C, or close to normal. Precipitation rates were low. Planting of early spring grains and sunflower continued there, reports UkrAgroConsult.
