Russia. Spring grains planting approaches the final stage

Weather conditions. In May, warm weather dominated the Central, southern and North Caucasian federal districts on most days in May and the Volga and Northwestern districts on half of the days. The May weather in the Siberian federal district was variable.

Moisture supply. Heavy rainfalls deteriorated planting conditions in the west of the Northwestern federal district, the southeast of the Central district and in some areas across the Volga district (at least 60-90 mm of precipitation was received there this past month). Crops in the Southern and North Caucasian districts were mostly well supplied with moisture. Soil moisture content in some eastern areas of the territory was fair, even inadequate and poor in single fields. Enough moisture was available to winter and spring crops in the Siberian federal district, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Crop condition. In May, crops in the Central and Volga districts enjoyed good growing conditions. Grains in the Southern and North Caucasian districts are rated good and fair, though premature leaf yellowing and drying in winter wheat is reported in single eastern areas. Growing conditions for winter and spring crops in the Siberian federal district were mostly fair.
