Russia. Spring grains planting is 83% complete

Weather conditions. Warm weather persisted on May 11-20, it was even hot in the east of the North-Western district, the northeast of the Central district and in most parts of the Volga district. Very warm weather persisted in the Southern and North Caucasian districts. Cooler-than-usual weather dominated Eastern and Western Siberia on most days during this period (the average daily air temperature was 2-5°C below normal, even 6-7°C below normal on single days).

Moisture supply. The Central and Volga districts received rainfall on May 13-16 (precipitation during the ten days under review totaled 15 to 25 mm) that replenished soil moisture content. The conditions for emergence of seedlings improved. In the Southern and North Caucasian districts, moisture supply for crops was good, though being fair in some eastern areas and insufficient and scarce in single fields. In Eastern and Western Siberia, moisture supply in the soil was sufficient.

Crop condition. Good conditions for crop growth and development were observed in the Central and Volga federal regions on May 11-20; those in the Southern and North Caucasian districts were favorable, reports UkrAgroConsult.
