Sunflower planting started in southern Ukraine
According to trade sources, Ukrainian growers in Odesa region have started planting sunflower. Due to dry, warm weather, this happened two weeks ahead of normal, UkrAgroConsult reports.
A similar situation in Ukraine was observed in 2014, when farmers planted more than 200 Th ha to sunflower by the end of March.
Early planting time results in early harvesting. So, in 2014, 30 Th ha was harvested by mid-August and more than 0.5 Ml ha by the beginning of the season.
UkrAgroConsult estimates that the sunflower planted area for 2020 will recover.
