Turkey. Sunflower crop decline not a reason to reduce crush

MY 2019/20 witnessed a further increase in sunflower seed crush in Turkey, to a record level due to high crops and significant imports.

Over 85% of sunflower seed imports to Turkey are accounted for by deliveries from Black Sea countries such as Moldova, Romania, Russia, Bulgaria, and Ukraine.

In the 2020/21 season the sunflower seed crop will fall by 8-10% due to smaller plantings and lower yield.

At the same time, oilseed demand from crushers will remain at last season’s level, UkrAgroConsult reports.

In view of the crop decline, domestic demand will partially be met by imports, which will again be near record and by high stocks as of the beginning of the season.
