Ukraine. Rape meal exports in MY 2018/19 to remain at a record high
Ukrainian rape meal exports in February 2019 were down at 0.4 KMT against 4.8 KMT in the previous month and 0.5 KMT in February 2018. Their total volume was the smallest for this time in six years, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Although export shipments of rape meal traditionally slowed in the latter half of the season, their total in the first eight months of MY 2018/19 hit a record high of 161.8 KMT due to active exports in previous months.
Growth in rapeseed crushing will make it possible to increase the rape meal market’s export potential. So, according to UkrAgroConsult’s estimates, Ukraine may export some 165 KMT of rape meal for the whole of MY 2018/19.
As before, the top importer of Ukrainian rape meal is the European Union, absorbing 73% of total exports from Ukraine. Morocco remains the second biggest buyer this season, with a 13% market share. Israel received 12% of total rape oil exports from Ukraine, while Belarus and Turkey absorbed 1% each. In addition, Turkey imported 1.3 KMT in October 2018, confirming irregular, one-time purchases of the Ukrainian product.
