Belarus. Topsoil moisture shortage adversely affects emergence of spring crops

The topsoil in most of the country contains little moisture, being even fully dry in some areas. The average soil temperature at a 10-cm depth is +10…+15°C. The rain-free weather leads to difficult conditions for yield formation in spiked cereals, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Winter grains in the majority of fields are in the stage of ear initiation, stem growth is observed, even the lower stalk node has appeared in many areas. Spring grain crops are in the stages of emergence and three leaves. Corn has emerged in the earliest planted fields in the south and west of the country.
