Global meat output to contract for a second year – FAO
Global meat production is expected to fall for the second year in a row, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said in its biannual Food Outlook report. World meat output is forecast to reach 333 mt, 1.7% lower than 2019. Much of the contraction would reflect a sharp drop (8%) in global pork production particularly in countries affected by ASF. This is compounded by the decline in bovine meat production especially in the US and Australia. However, global poultry meat is projected to increase by 2.4%, half of its growth rate in 2019.
