In 2019/20 MY Romanian grain export potential is seen as record high

Romanian farmers have started harvesting winter and spring wheat and the average yield is seen higher than previously expected, reports UkrAgroConsult. Thanks to the higher area, wheat crop in 2019 is comparable to the record, obtained in 2017 and 5-7% higher than the 5-year average for the country.  

Thanks to the higher supply, export estimate in 2019/20 MY was revised upwards. Wet weather conditions in June may have impacted quality of wheat.

Total grain production is now seen higher than last year and the second record for Romania thanks to the upward revisions for corn and wheat crops.

Grain export estimate in 2019/20 MY is forecasted as the all-time record for the country, but will greatly depend on weather conditions in July and August which may affect corn crop potential.
