Kazakh wheat exports focused on near destinations

Kazakhstan exported 472.8 KMT of wheat in October 2019/20, or 53% more than in September 2019/20 and down 13% from October 2018/19, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Total exports in the first two months of the season is 15% less than in September-October 2018/19.

This season, Kazakh wheat exporters have decided to focus their efforts on traditional markets such as Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China: shipments to these countries increased 6%, 23% and 74% against MY 2018/19, respectively.

At the same, exports to Afghanistan, Turkey, Azerbaijan, the EU and Georgia decreased from MY 2018/19.

Turkmenistan, which was among the top five importers of Kazakh wheat last season, slashed purchases in MY 2019/20: 15.2 KMT in September-October against 102.3 KMT a year earlier (-85%).
