Romania. Good start for the barley export season

According to the port data, in July 2019/20 Romania exported 431.6 KMT of barley. This was 86% higher than in the same month of 2018 and 4% higher than the average volume in the previous 3 seasons, reports UkrAgroConsult.

In July 2019 export geography of the Romanian barley was much wider than in the same month of 2018. In particular: Japan and Jordan returned as the buyers with 27.7 KMT and 63 KMT, respectively. Last time these countries imported Romanian barley in 2017/18 MY (25.85 KMT and 51 KMT for the whole season).

Export volume to the top importer Saudi Arabia remained comparable with July 2018, despite higher shipments to other destinations.

In 2018/19 Romanian barley exports were the lowest since 2013/14 (-29% y/y) due to the steep decline in the barley production.
