Romanian sunseed crop expectations remain high

Weather conditions. Air temperatures in Romania were within a range of +19..+31°C, i.e. up 2..6°C from long-term normal levels.

Moisture supply. The country saw no effective precipitation. High air temperatures led to rapid evaporation of soil moisture and had an adverse impact on corn crops. Only the north and west of Romania have fair amounts of soil moisture.

Weather forecast for August 10-16: the country will still be exposed to above-normal air temperatures that is an unfavorable factor ahead of planting winter crops, in particular rape.

Effective precipitation will occur locally in northern and central areas (25-35 mm) that will contribute to a timely start to sunflower harvest in the south. The sunseed crop expectations remain high, UkrAgroConsult reports.
