Russia reducing linseed exports for a second straight season
Russia exported 32.7 KMT of linseed in January 2019, or almost 47% less than in the previous month, but 31.3% more than in January 2018. Overall, September-January 2018/19 exports were down 25.2% year-on-year at 247.8 KMT against 331.5 KMT a year earlier. The two past seasons following the record 2016/17 witnessed a decline in linseed exports, reports UkrAgroConsult.
Among the top importers of Russian linseed, smaller volumes were shipped to the EU (-38.4%), Turkey (-54.8%) and Mongolia (-28.7%). In addition, Vietnam slashed imports to 0.3 KMT against 30.7 KMT a year ago. At the same time, growth was observed in shipments to China (+109.5%) and Egypt (+25.5%).
