Turkey doubled imports of Romanian corn y/y

According to port data, in April 2019/20 MY Romania exported by 62% more corn via ports than in the same month of 2018/19 and 80% higher than the 3-year average for April, UkrAgroConsult reports.

Key buyers of the month were: Egypt, Turkey, Spain and Qatar.

Due to the high corn crop, in September-April 2019/20 Romanian corn exports increased by 44% compared to the same period last season. Export pace remains considerably higher than the 3-year average for the given period.

Sharp increase in exports was seen to Spain (+42%), Egypt (+214%), Turkey (+100%), Netherlands (+59%), Italy (+23%) and Israel (+909%). This season Turkey and Egypt are expected to buy record volume of Romanian corn.

Lower exports were noted to Lebanon (-48%), Germany (-81%), Iran (-68%).
