Ukraine. Corn exports from Ukraine in MY 2018/19 up 69% year-on-year

Ukraine exported 22.5 MMT of corn in September-April 2018/19, or 69% more than at the same time last season. Moreover, this is 26% more than in the whole of MY 2017/18 and up 48% from the five-year average for this period.

As before, the biggest buyer of Ukrainian corn is the EU. This season its export share equals 57%. EU countries imported already 58% more than in the whole of MY 2017/18, reports UkrAgroConsult.

Also, Ukraine actively supplies corn to China. Shipments to this country increased to 2.9 MMT in the first eight months of this season against 2.8 KMT in the whole of MY 2017/18.

This season witnesses steady Indian demand for Ukrainian corn. India already imported 93.9 KMT of the commodity, though it made no purchases from Ukraine last season.

At the same time, last season’s major importers of Ukrainian corn such as Israel and Tunisia reduced purchases by 12% and 6%, respectively.
