Ukraine imposing mirror economic sanctions against Russia

We will introduce special duties on Russian goods to give a response to the aggressor who wants to hurt us economically," he said before today's government meeting. At the same time, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine offers the government to ban the imports from Russia of industrial goods, fertilizers, agricultural products, and vehicles.

"It is proposed to ban the imports of such [product] groups as industrial, mineral fertilizers, agricultural products, and vehicles. We would say there are questions considering cement, plywood and other products," First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv said, presenting the relevant draft resolution at a government meeting.

According to him, a specific list of products is set out in the annex to the decision. Kubiv stressed these restrictions would help reduce the outflow of capital from Ukraine to the aggressor state, increase the capacity of domestic facilities, boost revenues to budgets of all levels, support existing and create new jobs.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on April 18, 2019, the Russian government banned the exports to Ukraine of Russian oil and petroleum products. Medvedev also announced an expansion of the ban on the imports of some Ukrainian goods, including products of engineering, light industry, and metalworking.
