Ukrainian farmers set record of grain exports
Ukrainian farmers set a new record of grain exports, increasing last year's results by a quarter, according to data of the Ukrainian ministry of agriculture and food published on Monday.
As calculated since July 1, 2018, Ukrainian grain exports increased dramatically and reached 49.7 million tons, which is 26.1 percent more than that during the previous marketing year.
Corn export increased 1.6 times for the reported period, but wheat export decreased by 8.8 percent compared with the previous marketing year.
The previous record was set in the 2016-2017 marketing year when 43.8 million tons of grain had been sold abroad.
China is one of Ukraine's major grain importers. It was the second largest buyer of Ukrainian barley and the third largest buyer of Ukrainian corn by the end of 2018.
